I loved this wedding for so many reasons and I literally had to drag myself away at the end of the night. It always helps when the bride and groom are awesome, the wedding venue is quirky and rustic, and to add to that you’re treated to one of the best sunsets of the year.
It all started in the small village of Stilton. EJ already looked stunning and she was only half way through hair and make up. Once all the final touches were applied, her wedding gown and headdress complimented her style perfectly.
The wedding ceremony took place at Huntingdon town hall, a beautifully kept building with impressive features adding a touch of grandeur to the service.
Jacob looked slightly nervous, the big deep breaths and constant gulps of water gave that away. Although he had some of the cutest flower girls dancing and giggling around his ankles to take his mind of the more important things to come.
EJ pulled up in a beautiful classic car with her father; they both had beaming smiles and faces full of excitement. All guests were seated in anticipation and Jacob was waiting patiently at the end of the aisle for his wife to be.
The whole room fell silent in awe as EJ made her way down the aisle. It was a lovely service, with plenty of emotion and a touch of humour, I particularly enjoyed the moment when the two flower girls joined the registrars at the front, it almost felt as though they were conducting the service themselves, such a great moment.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom were greeted by a confetti shower and after some time to mingle the crowds gathered to wave them off down the road as the new Mr & Mrs Grace.
I arrived at Bedinghams Farm in Ely and was really impressed with the venue. It has great options for photography with plenty of rural fields nearby, just what I like. I spent much of the day making use of some quirky hotspots around the grounds. The wedding day really flowed and panned out perfectly; all the guests were happy soaking up the sun and catching up on old and new stories. The lawn games went down a treat, not only did they keep the kids entertained but the adults too; as the alcohol consumption increased so did the difficulty of the contests, great action to capture.
I took EJ and Jacob off to a nearby field, during a point in the day where there were some really epic cloud effects that I wanted to capture. They both warmed to the camera so well, which made for some lovely pictures.
Time was flying by and the speeches were upon us, they where greeted with rapturous applause, again the flower girls added a touch of humour, they where both such fantastic characters. For their wedding breakfast they had some incredible Nigerian food. This added a real touch of spice to the menu.
I anticipated there would be a nice sunset, but I didn’t quite anticipate how nice. For 15 minutes the sky lit up with an amazing array of warm tones, finally setting to a fiery contrast of reds, purples and oranges. This must have been one of the best sunsets I’d seen. We all just took a moment to appreciate how beautiful this moment was and it made for some beautiful photographs.
Back to the dance floor for the first dance and crazy antics that lasted long into the night. From start to finish the wedding was a real blast and a pleasure to photograph. Thank you both for having me as your photographer!

It was a crisp and sharp winters morning, with a piercing blue sky and a gentle sprinkling of white frost on the ground. Perfect conditions for a winter wedding, and in my eyes I was photographing a wedding at one of the most perfect wedding venues, Bassmead manor barns. I really do enjoy working here.
I arrived early at Bassmead Manor Barns to photograph as many details as possible before the bride Lucy arrived. The flowers in particular looked amazing, As always the venue itself looked great and the staff are so well drilled that everything was running smoothly.
I introduced myself to the groom’s party and managed to capture some cool groom prep images, they all seemed like a fun bunch.
Lucy arrived in high spirits as you might expect and I went about my discrete business of photographing the getting ready process. All the bridesmaids were charged with excitement, I got the impression this was going to be an extra special day.
The beautiful Rickety barn was filling up with wedding guest and the buzz around was Bassmead was intensifying. The time had come to tie the knot.
The ceremony was meaningful and heartfelt, with some touching moments throughout. Soon after the service confetti was launched into the courtyard, a large group photo was taken and everyone was congregating inside for a warm glass of mulled wine.
Due to the cold temperatures I made sure I didn’t keep people outside too long for group order generic antibiotics photos. I kept the bridesmaids on their toes by introducing some fun photography to take their mind off the chill. The light was just perfect.
The bride and groom where also keen to get as many photos as we could while we still had daylight to work with. This time of year you just have to work that little bit faster but the results can be just as great.
I was treated to some great food and speeches and in no time found myself photographing an intimate first dance. Soon after the dance floor was rammed and the tipsy dance moves where in full flow. I stayed long into the evening to capture the antics.
Before I left we braved the cold again to go outside and try some off centre flash photography, the moon was out so I wanted to capture that in their photos, they looked great
It was a beautiful morning and as I drove past Rutland water the sun was glistening of the surface of the water. It looked so peaceful. I was planning to take the bride and groom back to that spot in the evening, hopefully there would be a sunset to look forward to as well.
Steph was getting ready in one of the many rooms at Barnsdale lodge and she seemed very relaxed and calm so I left her to finish her preparations and went next door to the bridesmaids room. Things were a little more lively in there so I took a few pictures of them all together in their lovely bridesmaid wedding gowns. They all seemed like a fun loving bunch of girls, I immediately got the impression this was going to be an awesome wedding day.
I took the time to photograph all of Steph’s accessories and the finer details of the day; I do love capturing all the little details for my clients.
I photographed a few natural light photos of Steph once her hair and make-up was complete, she looked beautiful, such a stunningl bride.
I left the girls to get ready into their dresses and headed to the courtyard where I found Kev and his groomsmen. He had the biggest, beaming smile on his face, and I could tell he was charged with excitement he just couldn’t contain himself. They were great group of guys to work with.
Back to the bride and she looked stunning, her dress suited her perfectly. All of a sudden it seemed to dawn on her she was getting married and the emotions started to overflow, she had mum there for support and there was some priceless interaction between them both. I love taking a step back and watching the emotions unfold, whilst being able to capture those precious moments.
The bridesmaids also looked beautiful in their glittering, gold gowns.
A knock on the door signalled it was time to leave for the ceremony and the walk down through the courtyard was just as emotional, there were plenty of deep breaths and attempts at composing herself. She was doing a good job keeping it all together.
As I made my way inside I wasn’t surprised to see the same level of emotion on Kev’s face, a pack of tissues or two might be needed I thought to myself.
As anticipated the ceremony was packed with tears, laughter, loving vowels and so much more. It was so emotionally intense at times I felt like sheading a tear myself. It was truly a beautiful service.
After the ceremony it felt like a weight had been lifted and everyone could let their hair down and have some fun. Their twins made an appearance soon after the service too, such cute kids. They were hard to photograph as they didn’t stay still for a second, but I enjoyed the challenge. It was great to see all the wedding party mingling in the courtyard and I went about my business capturing candid reportage images along with a mixture of group shots.
Before we went inside for the wedding breakfast I took the bridal party aside for a few moments to photograph them altogether, they all seemed to enjoy the experience. Lots of giggles and great big smiles. Then we had a little time to spend just the 3 of us so we took the chance to have a wonder around the grounds of Barnsdale lodge, there are some lovely spots in the area.
During the wedding breakfast the twins were outside charging around so I took it upon myself to try and capture some natural images of them both.
Time for the speeches and as anticipated they were emotional too, but also with a great deal of humour, good work all around.
I was keeping one eye the weather and the sky was starting to change to a wonderful orange hue, so a quick drive down to the shore of Rutland water and we were in the midst of a beautiful sunset, a perfect way to see the night in.
But the wedding wasn’t finished yet so we headed back for the first dance and the dance floor was soon packed, some memorable dance moves spring to mind.
Before I left I organised a sparkler photo with all of the guests out side the front of Barnsdale lodge, now that was the perfect way to take my leave.
A thoroughly enjoyable wedding day, and I wish Steph and Kev all the best for their future together.
